The 749R was produced to homologate the model for the World Supersport Series, and features a bigger engine bore, shorter stroke, high-compression pistons, bigger and lighter titanium valves and con rods, racing cams, a lightweight crank, and a slipper clutch.The model also features an aluminium swingarm similar to the one used on the Ducati 999 Superbike World Championship bikes.This example is finished in a quintessential shade of red with contrasting white rear cowl sections, a carbon-fibre exhaust surround, and a black seat pad. The bike is fitted with a full Termignoni ‘banana’ exhaust and the matching upgraded ECU that came with it, both of which are rare finds.It rides on a pair of 17-inch Marchesini ‘Y-shaped’ five-spoke lightweight forged alloy wheels, finished in gloss-black and fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II tyres.
Equipment includes a tubular steel trellis frame, fully adjustable Öhlins upside-down front forks with TiN surface treatment, a fully adjustable rear Öhlins monoshock, an Öhlins steering damper, a Magneti Marelli rev-counter, and a digital speedometer.
Stopping power comes courtesy of twin 320mm front brake discs with radially mounted four-piston Brembo callipers, and a single 245mm rear disc with a two-piston Brembo calliper.
This example has been fitted with a full set of genuine Ducati carbon-fibre fairings, as found on the early production models of the 749R, a carbon-fibre clutch housing, and a Termignoni exhaust system linked to a correct Termignoni ECU.
The bike comes with the original plastic fairings (showing some minor damage from storage), and the original exhaust system.
